I know, I know... MIA... life, you know. Honestly, I got REALLY sucked into the Twilight Series of books and didn't come up for air for almost 2 weeks, finishing all 4 books in less than that time. I have read two more (short) books since Friday and it's just not the same, LOL. I miss my Bella and Edward. :( Laugh if you must, but wow, that was an amazing series of books!
Andrew's birthday was yesterday and we have just really been enjoying each other lately. I am truly so blessed to be married to my best friend. I think we get better together with age... which is a good thing, since he is now officially an old fart (I can say that for the next 3 months anyway). :)
The kids are on Fall break this week, so a little more sleep is ahead and I hope to finally get back up to speed here this week. I have a couple of days off during the week, too, since I will be working the weekend.
There are still some changes and unknown variables in our lives right now, and I've sort of not felt like writing about them, and as I mentioned, I have had my nose buried in some books. We're trying to figure out our next steps, not really seeing what will unfold yet, but trusting in the grace God always has for us.
I am also working on (writing) a book-- which might not even be finished for 20 years at this rate, but that is okay, I will get there. :)
Anyway, just ramblings for now, but will be back (with a new look here, I hope) later this week. Until then... have you heard this guy (Phil Wickham)? Just awesome... I **need** his CD.
WOW!!!!

my theme song
I just heard this on the radio today for the first time... I could have written it-- seriously. But, Sanctus Real did instead.
My new theme song...

if you haven't seen this... (7/3/08)
you need to. Arnel Pineda is the new lead singer of Journey... anyone who lived through the 80's knows who Journey is. This guy is amazing! We bought Andrew the new CD with the new lead man (for Father's Day) after we saw this story on the news. He is truly, truly amazing... Equal to this guy's amazing voice is his amazing story. If you want to be inspired, watch this... seriously. The whole thing-- to the end. I know it's long, but you won't be sorry.

did I mention...
that I am going to see the Counting Crows & Maroon 5 on August 30th? I thought not. I am. :) The Counting Crows are kind of the honorary band of our marriage-- every time i hear anything from August and Everything After, it reminds me of our first apartment... there was barely enough room for a couch, LOL. It actually had 2 distinct rooms-- living room / kitchen and bedroom/ bathroom. It was newly built and right off campus, which was good since it was walking distance to our classes and to the restaurant where Andrew worked. Life was so, so, so simple. We were young, we had friends (LOL), we didn't have much money, but it was okay because our apartment with ALL utilities included was only $350 / month (I think that even included Cable-- ha!). In our bedroom closet, we had a hook-up for a washer and dryer. We bought an old used dryer and would go to the laundry mat down the street, wash our clothes, and bring them home to dry them. Those were the days.
We celebrated our 14th anniversary this year-- blows my mind. We are so old, LOL. What stinks is that I FEEL older than I actually AM... hoping to change that... but I digress. Andrew told me yesterday that he told someone else that he is still crazy in love with me. I am so blessed to be with the love of my life. Life is not the same as back then in that little apartment off campus-- the world is not new and shiny; decisions are not easy; things are NOT simple anymore, but oh, how I love him still. In this world where I am not sure of a lot of things, that I am very sure of, and how grateful I am for that fact.
So, in honor of those thoughts and the Counting Crows... which I know I have done before... but hey, it's my blog... I found this of one of my favorite CC songs (not the best video, sorry). And, low and behold, it was from VH1 Storytellers, so it explains why the song was written-- always wondered. Adam Duritz is such a poet with his lyrics... "Every time she sneezes, I believe it's love"... ah, the lyrics.
Oh, and I think there's some Maroon 5 down there in my sidebar, too, in case you're interested. :)

I know it's hard to believe...
but I actually like this song, LOL. Something I said today reminded me of it-- I know it's not my typical music, but I like it and I haven't posted much music lately, so here you go. :)

Oh, yeah...
I remember now...
Thomas had a scout event last Friday and the craft they were doing was making "record" bowls out of old LP's that were slightly melted in the oven... well, it was a good thing that Andrew was there, because someone donated a whole box of albums and Andrew saved them from the "fire". We are now the proud owners of 59 LP's (in addition to the few we owned before) and have decided we are going to become collectors-- LOL. Lots of fun hunting is ahead I am sure, but can you imagine someone just melting Billy Joel, Eddie Money, Chicago, Stevie Nicks, Christopher Cross, Styx, Heart, LoverBoy, Billy Squire, Bonnie Tyler, Asia, Duran Duran... need I go on?
What's really crazy is looking at Andrew's CD collection... um, this is only *part* of it... notice the double rows on each shelf...

young@heart
I've been wanting to post this for a couple of days... Andrew stumbled on this group the other night as he was working from home... I'm thinking that this is the type of old person I want to be... hip. ;)
(Yes, this is indeed the Ramone's "I Want to be Sedated"...)
This one (below) actually made me teary-eyed-- made me listen to the lyrics of this song (by Coldplay) in a whole new way. (If you have trouble with the audio on this one, click on youtube, it seems better there.)
And... from the old to the young... Tyler told me on the way home tonight that he is going to start looking for a girlfriend tomorrow--LOL. Apparently a couple of the kids in his preschool class have decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend. I told him it was fine for him to be friends with a girl, but to save all kisses for Mommy and Daddy. I told him he had all the time in the world to do that, and at first, he said he might wait until next year... then, he said, "nah, I'm going to start looking tomorrow". Oiy!
And just to even out this old/young post (can you tell aging is on my mind? LOL), this Rod Stewart song always makes me think of high school... my AP English/History teachers ended the year with this song and a slide show of all of us. A little poem I wrote was read at the end. Think I've posted it before, but it's fitting here too, so...
If the stars will tell us where we'll go, then ask them not for I do not wish to know.
For, if we know what lies ahead, then surely our dreams shall all be dead.

The Weepies...
Just re-read my pouting post and realized I made a round-about Weepies reference, so thought I'd share my favorite from them. This is down on my sidebar, but thought I'd post it here, too. Love the Weepies and they so "get" me, LOL. ;)
